    Default FAO Gazza

This is a problem that has been ongoing for some time.

    See threads:
    http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=108839
    http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=112845

You responded to the first but the problem was dismissed.

The second should have resulted in a support ticket being raised today.

The problem appears to be with a combination of IE7 running under XP Home with Service Pack 3 installed. The result is that searching on eBid is non-existent. Any search returns zero results with the following error message placed halfway down the page:

Error : Read on for more information

Description : You'll need to add some more criteria to be able to search, use the form on the right to try again.

Doing that just returns the same error message.

No idea. I was just posting what Gazza asked to be posted. I assume it identifies my browser, Google Toolbar, and suchlike.

    Thanks

The above message is what you get if you click on the link on Gazza's post.

This is the message I get when I try to search:
Error : Read on for more informationDescription : You'll need to add some more criteria to be able to search, use the form on the right to try again.
I tried searching for 'Doctor Who' which does have some results. I have been experiencing this problem for over a month.

Were you just quoting my result from Gazza's link or was that your own result? As you are also having problems Gazza wants your result posted here as well so that he can see any commonality that may relate to the issue.

Although Gazza's link shows MSIE7 compatible, it obviously is not for some versions. I use IE7 with XP and when I type "Desk Lamp" into the search box, although I have 10 listed on the site, I get "home:buy:none" at the top of the page and the message below:
"Error : Read on for more information
Description : You'll need to add some more criteria to be able to search, use the form on the right to try again."
Even when I add more details in the form, I still get a blank. I see this has been going on for some time and I feel THIS IS IMPORTANT and should be dealt with as a priority.
Sad to see people slagging off ebid, we (ebid and its subscribers) need to move forward so any criticism should be constructive.
But please ebid, you have a growing number of sellers and items so NOW is the time to review your site and search options from a buyer's prospective. My items are selling through my website and ebay but if they don't sell on ebid, what do you think I will do??

Fanfare of trumpets, marching bands, elephants with plumes on their heads, fireworks apoppin', the sound of the heavenly host singing,...

    It works at long last.

    Well done!

I just wonder how many potential customers and new members have been lost on their first visit when they found the site didn't work.

Was it a fix to eBid or a fix to get around a Microsoft foul up?
