Thread: Search not working

  1. #1

    Exclamation Search not working

Just tried searching for a few things and got the following message:

You'll need to add some more criteria to be able to search, use the form on the right to try again.

I tried a few different searches including for things that definitely are on eBid in case the message wwas just showing when there were no results.

    Anyone else having this problem?

Yes. Only when using Internet Explorer - not when using Firefox.

When I raised the issue before I was convinced by others that the problem was on my system and not with eBid.

It makes eBid virtually unusable with IE. If the problem is with eBid then they are likely losing a lot of custom when new users are unable to locate anything they search for.

Sorry I don't have a problem using IE 6 or Firefox, so cannot really help

    I'm using IE 7.

    Version: 7.0.5730.13
    Build: 75730

and that will not do a search on eBid. It just comes back with the message the OP stated.

If I want to search I have to load up Firefox. A right pain in the gluteus maximus.

IE 7.0.6 just done a search for "bichons" (knew there was at least one, guessed there wouldn't be thousands!) and it worked fine. I usually use FF so don't know if this is normal or a fluke!

I have used both Mozilla SeaMonkey 1.1.9 and IE6 to perform various searches whilst both signed in and not signed in. On all occasions I found the search function to perform correctly.

I've just tried to find that version with no success. Microsoft update says I am up to date. Downloaded a new copy of IE from the Microsoft site and installed that. Gives the same version number as before and still search does not work on eBid...

Running XP SP3 if that ties in with anyone else having problems. Where's the OP gone?

Don't know where to look next. I have a reformat and reinstall planned but keep putting it off as it is not a task I enjoy.
