Thread: When eBid address and PayPal address don't match

    Default When eBid address and PayPal address don't match

    The buyer is brand new to eBid. It would seem logical that the eBid address is correct and that they've moved and have forgotten to change the PayPal address.

    I wrote to the buyer and asked for confirmation that the eBid address is the correct shipping address.

    Would you require address confirmation before you shipped?

    Or would you proceed on the assumption that the eBid address is the right one?

    Assuming anything always seems to get me into trouble.

    Hello, There can be a number of reasons why the addresses held on the eBid and the PayPal systems are different. When I see different addresses, I always delay despatch of goods until I have been able to obtain confirmation from the customer regarding the correct address to post to. It is a good idea to do that to avoid something being sent to the wrong address and then taking weeks to be returned.

    I've just had someone who deliberately entered a totally fictional address so be careful!

    Always get the correct address from the buyer and save any correspondence (just in case) before you ship anything.

    I always send AAL message and email asking which address they would prefer for delivery ....
    sometimes it takes a few days for them to get back to you but is safer in the long run

    (some want goods delivered to their work or a relatives address so it is always better to check)

    As a rule I do not send out goods when the addresses for PP and the website the item was bought on are different. Send an email or Ebid message to your buyer asking them to confirm the address they want you to send the item to. Wait until they've replied before sending anything.

    I too, have come across this problem.
    Paypal clearly states that you must post to the address that they have, should anything go wrong and you need to make a claim.
    It's a dilemma - when the eBid address is completely different.
    IMHO I think that contacting the buyer and asking which postal address is correct is the best we can do.
    It usually takes a few days (or longer) for a reply ... but at least we may well have the correct postal address.

    Definitely get a verification of the address before shipping. If they do not contact you within the allotted days you desire, you can either refund them their monies or if you're printing your label from PayPal then the PP address is what is going to be used. Check to see what protection you have from PayPal. Either way, check all your options so that you won't be left hanging.
