OK. Let's all pick a computer magazine and send a postcard to the editor or a contributing writer. There are usually names and an address in the front of the mag. Should be able to print something off that will do the job with a nice big eBid logo on the front.

Ebid might not be newsworthy, but it isn't going to be included in articles if the editors, writers, presenters etc aren't even aware of ebid.
Yes they regularly issue press releases. there's quite a few examples on the press and media boards

But I wonder if these press releases are getting to the right people. Who are these press releases distributed to?

They're using professional press agencies, so they'll be going to all the "usual suspects" plus some specialist stuff the PR bods will have identified. What you can't do is make anybody use the material they've been sent. A lot of it is down to luck and serendipity - you have to hope your release hits the right desk just at the time that a suitable piece is being put together.

Instead of writing to the editor etc why not wrie to the letters page most magazines have them an i know it is always something i tend to look at even in the most diverse titles , ive tried it a few times but to be honest ive only had 1 printed ad that was in a local paper
but the more letters to more publications the better te chanse of it getting in

BBC is not allowed to advertise, which is probably why they don't deign to mention a commercial site.

They don't advertise but they do mention a commercial venture in relation to a news story.

Go to www.bbc.co.uk and enter 'ebay' in the search box. Now enter 'ebid'. Spot the difference?

What we need is for someone to go on a killing spree through their local town wearing their eBid T-shirt.

Also programmes such as Working Lunch might be interested in doing something on ebid. A staple of 'magazine' programmes at the moment seems to be how to make and save money.
I reckon ebid could fit in there somewhere, especially a comparison to feepay.
