I always have an auction starting price AND a BIN price. I don't set reserves. My sales are about 50/50 auction and BIN. setting both gives you the best of both worlds

(as usual) I have to agree with hanna....

I set both up, that way if they want to buy now they can or they can wait for the listing to finish and (sometimes) get it slightly cheaper

BIN all the way (at least for the moment). I want to sell to extroverts who, generally speaking, want the item now not in ten days time. They're usually willing to pay a little bit more to have an item immediately too (not that I take advatage of that fact).

TBH I have not taken that much notice of which format gets the most sales, they seem (without checking) to be about the same

All that matters to me is that the buyer gets the right product for the right price, with the right sort of customer service backing this up.

    ditto here!!

    I don't mind which...a sale is a sale

If BIN..the extra money goes to charity

If not....then my auction has the possibility of showing up on the front page...more publicity

Default Question About Buy It Now / Reserve prices ...Please ...

Is it possible for sellers to list their items with a reserve that's the exact same price as their Buy It Now?

I don't see the sense in doing that myself but, as it doesn't cost anything, is it possible some sellers might do this?

I always use both a starting bid and a BIN price. The BIN price in the bead store is a third higher than the starting bid but it varies in the jewellery store depending on the piece.

About 80% of my sales are from auction and several times the closing price has actually been higher than I'd set the BIN.

If you use BIN (either alone or with a starting bid) your items will be uploaded to Google shopping so you'll get extra exposure.

if I know roughly the price people will buy at and that makes me a profit I will do a BIN and an auction price a little less than that.
I put it on for just over 7 days so that it will appear in the Google product search.

If it is a unique item and I can't find similar selling on line, I do an auction only. I start at what I would like and reduce the starting price if there is no interest. I don't put a buy it now because with an auction the item will find it's market value ( Theoretically!)...eg I once sold a small dish starting price £9.99...it sold for £700.00!) . I am glad I didn't put a £19.99 bIN on

I wish I could find more like it It belonged to a lady across the road who kept sweets in it for when her grandchildren came over. She hated it and wanted rid...so I sold that and a couple of other things for her... The total paid for her holiday last year
