Hello!
When my grandmother passed over I inherited 3 rings, 2 of which I know the history of, 1 which is unknown. The two known rings have platinum bands. The band on the third ring looks like the other two and is thin, 0.85mm wide at the narrowest portion. All 3 rings have been sized larger to fit me.
The other day a woman who was our neighboring vendor at a craft fair said the thin band of the third ring would break unexpectedly and I should get it "fixed" to prevent this breakage from occurring. One of the known rings also attracted her attention and the same dire warning; this ring is 1.28mm at the narrowest, and I am certain it is platinum. It was given as a gift to Peggy Schwinn of bicycle-family fame from her husband Corky; Peggy gave it to my grandmother, and grandma gave it to me.
Does anyone have any experience with "fixing" rings so the bands don't break? Is this something a person does with rings of all metals, or are certain metals more prone to difficulty?
Thanks in advance for any replies.
