Thread: New Category: Artisan Jewelry

  1. #1

    Default New Category: Artisan Jewelry

Hello, I'm a 10-year ebay seller and I'm eager to escape ebay and bring my clientele to ebid. Please consider adding a category for Artisan Jewelry, as it is truly different from other jewelry categories. Thank you.

I second that - art jewellery is often a combination of costume, vintage and fine jewellery components, so it's difficult to fit into one major category.

Thanks, Gazza, for your interest in our minature soapbox! The only logical place would be a top level cat under Jewellery and Watches. Art/Artisan jewellery often covers Fine, Costume, Ethnic, Childrens, Mens etc - even watches, so it wouldn't fit as a subcat under any of these.

As an aside, I'd suggest not using alternative terms, such as 'handmade/handcrafted' - without wishing to insult anyone, (including myself!), these terms can smack of rough, twiggy, folk fest type-execution with some jewellery buyers, although they work well in other artisan/craft fields ...

    Women - necklaces and pendants
    - earrings
    -bracelets

So glad to see the responses here! I agree with cruellady and madelaine: Artisan Jewelry should be a top level category.

city girl.. it will not make it to a top level category until there are a goodly number of listings. I'm suggesting a structure for it as a sub category of jewellery.

That's what I meant, madelaine, thank you! A subcategory of jewelry would be great!

Ok.. we are agreed... Gazza, please?

I'll put some thought into other handcrafted item categories for other areas as they don't belong under crafts as that is where we go for our materials, patterns and tools.
