when I click on the box toward the bottom to add an extra photo, then select it, it simply replaces the first photo, which is then lost.
Is there some trick to this that I'm not seeing?

I've never used that feature, bbooks, but if it were me I'd go the "free route" and put your pics at PhotoBucket, then in the body of your listing just simply add the URL(s) you want to use...FREE is ...... GOOD!!!!
I've just tried it and it works as expected. Each extra image appears below the main free image in the sequence added.
Are you saying it replaces the free image or that it replaces a previously added extra image?
