Thread: POLL - change the wording "Run til sold" ??

Smile POLL - change the wording "Run til sold" ??

Hi there, I don't think there is a poll running for this, but apologies if I have just not found it. I guess I'm being rather pushy in setting up a poll when I've only been with ebid for 3 weeks, but this is quite a big concern to me. One of the first things I noticed when I started shopping on ebid was the tag "Run til sold" on items. I hate it! It sounds like a cheap bargain basement where sellers dump stuff they don't think is going to sell. (Do hope I'm not going to start a war with this, or worse, offend the bosses and programers).
Could the wording be changed to something much more positive?
"instant buy" "available now" "stock item" ..... ideas needed!
I'll duck now incase there's any low flying curses.

Never really thought about it until you raised the issue, but I do think you have a point. I don't normally use "Run Til Sold" - a more positive "spin" on the title would very probably be better... I'm sure others will give their thoughts on the matter soon....I'll vote in favour.....

I agree that something more positive could be used or better still NOTHING - it is a fixed price anyway.
Well done for starting the Poll !

Why when people start polls do they often not add an option of ' I don't care either way' or similar wording

Without that option you don't get a fair view of the voting. All you get is those who are definite no's and 'yeses' but how many other don't actually mind either way and don't have a vote.

Looking as a buyer I feel the listings pages are too cluttered and you have to scroll too much to see item descriptions.

There is far too much on the page that is unnecessary and it could give the impression that eBid is more complex to use than it really is.

So I would prefer to see nothing to show that indicates the type of listing other than whether it is a fixed price offer and price or an auction and bidding - plus end time. As a buyer I don't need to know anything else besides a clear description of the item itself and basic details of who is selling the item.

Less clutter is a good thing IMHO.

It is an unnecessary 'embellishment' - the only people who need to know are admin!

Hi there, you are absolutely right, I should have given the option "don't mind either way" and also an option to have no wording at all or it be hidden from buyers. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a way that I can edit the options. Sorry - my first poll, I'll take more time to think about the options if I ever set another one going!

Well if they don't care either way then their vote would have no effect on the result. They would effectively be voting both for and against - which cancel each other out. So why bother?
