A buyer has said that his card won't pay to google checkout because "you are a security risk". Anyone had this problem and know how to address it. Obviously I am not the risk but Visa is flagging google checkout as one for some reason.

I haven't had this problem with buyers paying with Google checkout - so far. I have only had 1 payment rejected from a buyer but that was due to lack of funds I think.
Sorry, new to me.
I've emailed Google checkout - I can't do anything to solve this one but maybe they can.

Are you sure the buyer ain't getting confused with his card not passing the google checks? I have had this on 2 occassions where the buyers card has not cleared the google security checks, which in turn has automatically cancelled the orders, which then made the buyers pay with postal orders / cheques
Have you clicked on the order in Google and if so what does it say on the left. Like this

Hi
I had it one time on one of my sales but it was due to the fact they needed to update there expired CC but they are also notified as well..
I think it must be the buyer's card's fault. We have given up trying to trade, which is a shame but there is nothing more I can do.

I don't think it's Google's fault either... I believe it's the bank security fraud alert system that provided the card.
Here is my story... I once tried to purchase a bouquet of flowers on a French website to be delivered in France with my US credit /bank card and kept getting an error message that my card would not go through. I got frustrated knowing my card was good. As a last resort, I used my Paypal credit card and it worked.
The next day, I received several emails and a phone call from my bank, alerting me that "someone" had tried to make an online purchase with my card on a foreign website... Arghhh, I had to explain that it was I...
I think some banks do that... for our own good? and lock us out of international purchasing?... whatever the reason, I was upset that my bank would regulate where I was allowed to spend my money.
I'm just guessing here but if there's any 'fault' here it can probably be laid at the software designer's feet. My question here would be who is the 'you' in 'you are a security risk.' All too often automated systems are built without consideration of which user(s) is/are going to be addressed, and in which contexts.
Google is still fairly new. This has at least two impacts on use:
a) the system is bound to have teething troubles; and
b) the users (which of course includes sellers as well as buyers) are still not completely familiar with all the system's foibles, so will make mistakes and sometimes misunderstand / be confused by the interface.
Uh oh, better stop now before I head off into rantland. Oops too late!
