They flicker a lot and the electrician suggested that one can buy them that work with dimmers. Had a bit of a browse but although I have seen some listed as unsuitable for dimmers I have not seen any that said they do work with dimmers so any links appreciated....
Unfortunately, as far as I am aware, dimmer switches don't work with energy saver bulbs (or should that be the other way round). We've replaced our dimmer switches with normal ones in order to accomodate energy saving bulbs!

I googled "energy saving lightbulb dimmer"

Most dimmer switches will not work with most ESLB's.
However, there are some which will work with a specific type of dimmer switch.

Of course, I wouldn't think of linking from here to an e-commerce enabled site.

Those were the bulbs I found - the sites took up half the first page of Google.

    I sent a link in a PM

It's more illuminating than the energy saving lightbulbs I have here

    They should be called darkbulbs

Why do you not ask him where you can get them from?
He is the so called expert!

I suppose I could phone the bloke up on a sunday night to ask him where to get energy saving light bulbs that work with dimmer switches. Then again I could ask on here.

You know I know google is good but when I googled 'energy saving lightbulbs' I assumed that would bring up a whole load of companys selling them and that these companys would be aware that people might actually want dimmable ones so would make an effort to say whether each type worked with a dimmer or not. The first couple of sites I looked at I didnt see dimmable mentioned except that some of the bulbs said they didnt work with dimmers but none said they did.

At this point I thought that maybe it was a brand thing rather than a design thing. Now I know its a design thing. And that they are a lot more expensive....
