    Default Any tips for advertising

Just thought I would say hi.
As a lurker and small buyer of e-bid, I thought I would start listing some items myself.
I am from the other site know as greedbay.
I sell Fashion bags and accessories and hope it becomes as popular over here as it was over there.
If it works out to be popular, then I will make the move altogether.

    Any hints and tips please.

    Hi Belinda,

there are stacks of things you can do.

This is one of my favourites:

    Join Flickr:

Post images of your stock there.

Join the variety of Flickr groups, but especially the ebid groups and anything related to what you are selling. Take part in the group discussions - mention ebid wherever you can, without spamming.

    Flickr

    ebid.net Flickr group

Look what I sold on ebid Flickr Group

Look What I Bought On eBid.net

A list of handbag related sites on Flickr

Comment on other peoples' images. especially those of your fellow ebidders, and make as many Flickr contacts as possible.

    hope this helps.

Thank you, you are very kind.
I'm just trying to work out if I need to do all my items on auction, then buy it now.
Can't I just click buy it now without doing an auction?

Yes you can do BIN listings. OK to help you get started add a signature link to your posts so us nosey lot have an easy link to your items whilst reading the forums, read this thread http://helpdesk.ebid.net/showthread.php?t=100959 then fill in some info on Your About Me Page so people know about you as a seller. Perhaps buy a few things to kickstart your feedback over here, always looks better than a zero, ( I have some nice cheap prints ) have a look at my listings to see how I dealt with the zero feedback problem when I started.

Then email all YOUR (not Greedbay's they are a venue, they keep telling us) customers, and tell them where you are, give them a link to your listings. Grab the records while you can and from paypal records as well. That should keep you busy for a bit, and shout if you need a hand. Additional body parts incur a small fee Oh and finally read the forums there is a lot of useful information on here.

These threads may help opening a store.

I have registered on that flickr site, but don't know what tags are.
I am a very new learner.

    Hello belinda

tags are the keywords by which others will find your images.

So, for example if you were trying to find an image of a blue handbag, you would type these keywords or 'tags' into Flickr's search engine and it will bring up a list of images of blue handbags, or to be more specific it will bring up a list of images that have the keywords blue and handbag 'tagged' to the image by the image poster. If the image poster hasn't tagged his or her image, the image wont show up in the search.

So, when you upload your image(s) make sure you include tags (or keywords if you like) relevant to the image(s), most importantly though ensure that you also include the tags 'ebid' and 'ebid.net' and anything else you feel is relevant.

I think Flickr is a great way of spreading the ebid word, so if you have any questions regarding Flickr, post here and I will do my best to help.

You're in the right place to learn about promoting your eBid items! I suggest reading a few of the threads in this forum, you should pick up some good tips. Don't be afraid to muck in with ideas and get stuck in making your own promotional stuff (posters, cards, etc).
