Thread: More VISIBILITY for BIDDING activity

I agree entirely. The point I'm making is that TPTB may be looking at this issue as we speak, but taking their time over deciding what's the best course of action - which is as it should be.

Many of these usability issues have been pointed out for YEARS. I agree with you that changes should not be made hastily. But a healthy caution is not what we're talking about here.

Often there are good reasons why systems cannot be changed. If 'TPTB' came back and said "these are good points but we're concerned that with the current database structure this would mean 10% more accesses and slow the site" or "we've hired a usability consultancy and don't want to preempt their findings" or "we like this idea but we have 27 other changes on our list ahead of it" or even "we think you're a bunch of amateur meddlers and should keep your noses out of things you know nothing about" or ... then at least people would know where they stand.

As it is, why bother to have a poll or a discussion? What are we likely to achieve?

I totally agree with the original post; show the bids; it's encouraging to see.... I also get curious; what's everyone interested in; it helps to see as a seller what else I can offer my buyers and it boosts sellers as well

As I've mentioned elsewhere this morning, I think some sort of "hit counter" would he helpful, and might be easier to implement? A counter on the front page showing current bids, sales closed, anything that indicated there was successful activity not just listing!

/agree 100% John. 'Usability' is also about keeping the customer satisfied, and satisfaction comes hand-in-hand with information. Some feedback on this from TPTB would be very welcome
