Can we have one for UK, Europe and Worldwide too then please??
LOL!!
The shipping calculator will launch eBid into much faster growth because customers love knowing their cost upfront! They'll be much more inclined to buy here. EVERYONE benefits from it.

We don't seem to have this complication here in the UK, so I find it a little hard to understand, presumably it's primariliy on weight and distance, so is the seller saying what the weight is in their listings, in which case I also presume there must be a general post calculator on the web, just enter the weight and distance from you to the seller and that should give you the price for the service you want them to use. Or am I missing something here.

Not to whinge too much but in my opinion the United States Postal Service is confusing to most people. I live in the central area of the country and it costs me widely varying amounts to mail to people on either coast and points between, and there are several classifications of shipping from which to choose: Priority Mail the fastest most expensive among those I use. I don't even use Overnight Express becuase i think it's in the range of $20. 00 for even a small package. Then there's Parcel Post which is slower and less expensive. But then you get into books, magazines and media like computer disks and movies. Books don't have advertisements in them so they qualify for Media Mail, while magazines do have ads so they have to go Bound Printed Matter. Or maybe i have that backwards. First Class, which you might think of for letters, covers only items up to 13 ounces. Then there are flat rate envelopes and flat rate boxes available from the post office. Depending on tbe distance involved, they may be more expensive or less expensive to use compared to "regular" shipping. Shipping to other countries is confusing too. I think the USPS allows only certain shipping methods to certain countries and often it's a surprise when i get to the post office window to have a clerk weigh and price my package, even if i've studied the website's instructions. Also different clerks will give different answers for the same package!
Uh oh. a long winded, confused post. I'm sure you all have sense enough to have skipped this if you're not in the mood. I posted it as one user's thoughts and reasons for applauding LOUDLY the approaching eBid postage calculator.
EDIT: I must add that I use the USPS exclusively because they're open on Saturdays unlike UPS, they don't require a street address (as opposed to a Post Office box address), APO and FPO addresses cost the same as internal US addresses, Post Office rates are usally lower than those of other services, and they are very helpful and friendly to customers.

If you provide the information about the item surely it isn't rocket science for the buyer to find out what it's going to cost them, or are they really so lazy that everything has to be done for them including wiping their tears away when they lose an item!

Here is the price page for USPS. http://www.usps.com/prices/welcome.htm
Then when you click on one of the eleven different ways to send things, they are then broken down in weight, then some are also by zones.
Hi Ken,
It's not a question of being lazy. It's EFFICIENT to let a customer immediately know their exact costs. If we are going to increase sales, especially in the U.S because we have 8 zones with different costs to each, we need to provide this info or shoppers will go elsewhere. Once you have the shipping calculator, you'll be amazed at how sales will increase!

IT IS EFFICIENT ????....
... like Ken I must be missing something ??? ... or the buyers are....am I wrong in saying...the P&P are stated in the listing....( at least for UK )
so , a seller who states the P&P is being EFFICIENT...it looks like it is some buyers ...THAT ARE NOT being EFFICIENT !!!......papa.
