Thread: Answering auction questions, formatting?

  1. #1

    Default Answering auction questions, formatting?

I've just answered a question on http://uk.nine.ebid.net/perl/auction...8-1&mo=auction taking care to set out my answer with a blank line between each quote, but the whole lot has been run together.

"$&%#!!" I said. So the next question I answered (it's great having two questions in one day, mark my calendar!) I thought I knew the answer -- use html, I thought.

Well, serves me right for being a smartypants. The html just comes out in the answer, it doesn't affect the formatting.

So how the devil do I give properly formatted answers on auctions?

I fear you know the answer.

There is no way that I can see.

I think ebid have kept the questions section as basic as possible to stop some users trying to put up email addresses and website links.

Thanks Xaos and HannaHolly. I think it's more a case of priorities -- obviously I'd prefer distance based searching to be implemented ahead of paying extensive attention to this. I just feel it should be reported so it can be slotted into the 'todo' list or some other reaction.

I don't understand what email addresses and website links have to do with it. If the responses are being scanned to eliminate those, there's already processing being done and looking for a double newline pattern and transforming it internally into <br> or <p> would be a trivial addition.
