Thread: Has anyone ever invited their competition to eBid?

  1. #1

Smile Has anyone ever invited their competition to eBid?

I have just started the ebid store and seem to be getting lots of views which is encouraging. We are in this for the long haul so not here to have a moan about no sales yet, it's early days.

Biggest problem seems to be the lack of choice in our category. I am working on some promo flyers to include with the e**y sales but I don't want my buyers to be put off by lack of items to choose from. Fishkeeping is such a vast hobby there is no way I could stock everything and even my repeat buyers go to other sellers for items I don't stock.

I have been toying with the idea of contacting other sellers that have complementary goods to ours in order to beef up the listings and choice. Has anyone ever done this? Was the result good or bad for your business?

Thanks for any tips...you seem like a friendly lot!

I really must change my glasses,I thought you said working on some porno flyers!
I don't think there can be any harm done in contacting other sellers. If they do start listing here you could maybe have links to each others stores.(If allowed)

Well they say 'sex sells' so maybe porno flyers isn't such a bad idea! LOL! I think cross-promotion would be a good idea but not sure how or if it works here. Thanks for your reply!

Although some fields dont have a lot of competition, you are still competing with sellers on other sites.
A lot of buyers will compare prices and that will decide where they purchase from, so if you can sell a bit cheaper on here with low fees it should push your sales up.

I have been able to lower prices on most of the items I have listed here which is going to be my selling point to current customers. Guess I just have to get busy with the 'conversion' campaign!

If you read through the promotional thread there is one on the above subject. I have run several small seminars to help 'recruit' new sellers and try to promote via a network.

Hmm... there goes 'nosty on another paperchase

Has anyone any feedback on all the thousands of newsletters and fliers that have already gone out? Did they generate a significant increase in buyers?
