Confused Newbie

Hello I also sold on Ebay and will be closing my store there shortly.Just to many increases to keep up with although sales were good wasn't really making any headway.I have auctions that are posted and have views on some of them and none on others. I suppose it depends on what a person is looking for. Just keep on checking and keep the faith as sometimes sales start slowly but what you list may catch another's eye. At least there is no charge for that unlike the charges that we have been used to.

Hi HH; You seem to know what's up with this site. I've just started bidding and seem to be doing something wrong. I get on the site, find things and bid, see my bid say its the highest (although e-mail says i've been outbid)and I see the clock ticking away so I assume its live and I'll see bids as they happen and then can rebid. Nope, I keep getting out bid without knowing it. Don't have time to jump back and forth between e-mail and the site. I must be doing something wrong. Any ideas? thanks.s

Hi. welcome to ebid. I don't set reserves on any of my listings, neither do the majority of ebid sellers. As I buyer i agree with you that they don't seem very productive. However some sellers like to set reserves with the hope that buyers will keep bidding until they reach it. you could try asking the seller what their reserve is? but they may not tell you!

One tip as you are new to ebid. On any auction site, always check a sellers feedback and their 'about me' page before bidding so you can satisfy yourself this is a seller you trust and want to deal with.

The bidding was over yesterday. the page I was looking at said I was the highest bidder and the clock was ticking away so I thought it was a live bid and I would see others bid as it happened. . One option might be to have two windows open one the bid and one your e-mail, but I think I must be doing something wrong. Thanks for any help

I presume you are in the UK. This seller was in US and not willing to ship abroad so it looks like your bids were not accepted

Hi Denis,
When you made your 1st post about this auction, you had managed to place two bids on it but were not the highest bidder at that time. You may have had problems with subsequent bids because the page had not refreshed and the actual highest bid was higher than the one showing on your page. In the top left corner of an auction there is a link to refresh the auction page. Try clicking on it if you have this problem in the future.

I just started here and I moved most of my items here. I like this site. I send a complain about a scam on eBay and they did nothing. I read a post in a forum here that somebody did the same. T he thing is the eBid excluded the person. eBay knows only to take money and up with the fees. Let's make eBid bigger than eBay. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!
