Thread: Paypal stop giving back fees in October.

  1. #1

Default Paypal stop giving back fees in October.

Paypal are back tracking again after cancelling it last time.

Sellers got bad news on Wednesday, learning that PayPal will no longer credit any fees when they issue refunds for returns or other reasons. PayPal had originally notified sellers of the change in its User Agreement back in April, but a month later said it would not change its policy "at this time."

Today, sellers learned PayPal will institute the policy change on October 11, 2019.

Lots of buyers pay for their items by f&f, so we will have to refund via f&f

This was announced some time ago. Just another instance of Paypal moving to match what credit card merchant accounts have already been doing for decades. I don't like it, but I do understand it. While the initial idea behind Paypal was to make a small profit on the very short float time between payment and payout, since then a good portion of Paypal transactions are made to Paypal by customers using credit cards, which presumably do not refund their fees to Paypal. They'll add to their bottom line by cutting this loss, so I see why they'd do that.

Now I just keep the tiny payments which are prelude to fraud? Most are 1c and so I get nothing. Recently I got an 8c one so that actually gave me a tiny amount. I then spent an hour on the phone trying to find out what to do about these. On hold for an hour after I'd explained my question. So no answer.
