Ryanair’s controversial new baggage policy will be introduced on January 15. Here we outline how the changes will affect your trip.
What is Ryanair doing?
Essentially, it is banning holdalls and small suitcases from its aircraft cabins – unless their owners cough up £10 per return flight.
In what amounts to be the biggest overhaul of its baggage policy in four years, the low-cost airline announced last September that passengers will only be allowed a small handbag or laptop bag on board (with maximum dimensions of 35cm x 20cm x 20cm) if they don’t pay extra. All bigger cases, be they backpacks, holdalls or wheelie bags, will be taken from them at the gate and placed in the hold (free of charge).
