Default Can we use the E word?

I've noticed threads get deleted as soon as the word eBay is used.

I usually refer to it as TOS, but then cheaver replied and told me not to discuss eBay matters here (using the E word). Someone then probably reported it and 'poof' it was gone.

There was some interesting info in that thread, like how some sellers use auction sites as a 'cash till payday' tool, knowing they don't have the product they're listing etc.

Lucky I saved the OP as I knew what would happen (90% sure), so I can start the thread on another more relaxed forum.

Another question is, does the rampant thread reportings in The Kitchen Table get threads automatically deleted or do mods actually look and decide?

It's a shame really as this must chase off an astronomical amount of new posters, which would probably also turn into new buyers.

I actualy had a juicy thread I was going to start tonight about a private matter. I know how some of you like a juicy read and like to see outcomes (like myself), but the only outcome I see is thread deletion without even an explaination, like this one for instance.

Merking ~ I did NOT report your thread. If I had, I would tell you.

Could it be that it is precisely because you refer to eBay as TOS? While you and forum regulars know what you mean others may assume that as you are posting on an eBid forum that you are talking about problems experienced on eBid. I doubt that eBid would appreciate such.

I agree that problems on eBay do not belong on eBid. Do you go on eBay forums asking for advice on eBid issues?

The only exception would be where the issue is applicable to all sites, but even then there would be no need to reference another site.

I so disagree with not being able to discuss the other place(s) on here. I accept that we use coded language but eBid is not paranoid and, I would hope, we would all be happy to offer help and advice under most circumstances.

The dark side has closed all the forums as far as I can see.

I agree with you Madelaine, I see no need to have to use a code either if you mention The word on here it gets picked up by google, people then click on the link and get to ebid, so yes you are advertising the os but also advertising Ebid at the same time.
The forums are still alive on there put post at your peril as you get attacked straight away, i read but don't post, not a nice place, if i needed advice I would ask on here as it's safer

I can't understand why some forum members hijack threads.

I don't post on here very much anymore and this thread is one of the reasons why.
It seems to me that there is no freedom of speech on these forums.
A forum is just that FORUM; 'A place where issues and ideas can be discussed'
I stopped posting here in the past because threads were pulled without warning, ideas were silenced and, as a result, judging by the content of the forums today, watered down and trivialised. (no offence to anyone intended).
It appears that anyone who posts or starts a 'testing' thread or causes a little healthy discussion is silenced.
There will always be people who disagree with one another.
Thats why forums are interesting. A one sided discussion is opression.
It seems to me that anyone who posts an idea that is unacceptable to the invisible forum police on here is quickly reported and the thread is pulled. There is no freedom of opinion here.

Pure fantasy, as even the simplest of searches on the forum prove.
