Just purchased a lovely George VI commonwealth album almost complete: do I break it up or sell as a complete item?

It depends on the condition of the album and contents. If very good, they can go for a fair amount as a whole unit, as these albums are still sought after by collectors, who can then fill in the gaps. Only if it were in poor condition would I break it up, as you lose the value of the album itself.
Many thanks.
Well, everything is Very Very Good with the collection and the Album... most stamps in complete sets and Mounted Mint - high values included.
Watch this space folks, may well list it tomorrow as a complete collection...
well, I've decided I like the collection so much that I will keep it after all as an investment! They are just Great Stamps that look terrific in this purpose-made album!
But now I have quandary with the unmounted mint sets which I do not want to stick in the album with stamp hinges of course. I know nothing about the best clear mounts to use; what are the best ones to use etc. - any help/advice appreciated please.
I use Hawid and Prinz mounts. I use Strips which you can cut to size. You will need a variety of height of strip to accommodate stamps of various heights although you can get away with using strips which are over-height if carefully reduce the height to fit the stamp. Personally, I prefer the mounts with a clear front and a black back but it is a matter of personal choice.
Best of luck.
I have acquired some clear mounts of varying heights in strips, so I am looking forward to having a go at using these today.
Many thanks for suggestions all...
I too have used strips of varying height cut down to the required size. If you haven't already acquired one, I would suggest you also acquire a guillotine to cut the strips to size - using the scales printed on the tool this allows you to cut strips to the exact measurement needed and will be consistent from cut mount to cut mount. Using scissors can leave you with mounts of slightly differing sizes and this detracts from the stamps on the album page. The one I have is a Prinz Stamp Mounts Guillotine and can be found on the internet at around £15.00.
