One of my neighbors moved to Texas and the home is built with straw. They love it.

Hmmmm I would have "No Smoking" posted all over the house.

I know a lady who built one in the states. Wonderful home, great insulation, quiet, warm, cool.......depending on the weather. Energy efficient, and I believe the put fire retardant on the bales before sealing them in. No straw is exposed, so not a problem, like thatched roofs can be. Great idea!

I saw this on TV. Straw built houses would be cheaper to make and more affordable to buy. That's got to be a good thing when young people can't afford to buy their own first homes, and private rents are astronomical.
