    Default new paypal scam

I just had a message in my inbox allegedly from paypal saying my payment for $177.00 to Welsky Technologies had been accepted.
I went offline, went back on via another browser and logged in to paypal.
Needless to say there was no mention of payments.
I assume there was a link to my account in the message, I never opened it

that is how the scam works. When you press the link in the email, it takes you
to a clone paypal site and you log in and they steal your details and clear
    out your account.

I never click ANY links from paypal or banks on emails. Too many scams out there

I had this same type of message last year, only it was with a watch.
After checking my account on PP I ignored it , deleted it (got it off my computer) and was never the worse.
The most important thing that I'm aware of is never to open a link in a message such as that.

I have been receiving over twice the normal rate of scams recently.
Not all but many of them are really bad. I suspect that someone has been selling a scam kit, possibly in China, and the buyers of the scam kit don't have enough English to know what they are doing.
Would you open an email from Baclay's Bank?

The way Barclays have been running my account I'd expect an email like that :-)

That is interesting about the Barclay Bank, I get messages from them also, and I'm in the USA. Also, I received a 'your Paypal account is on hold due to............." kinda email just lately.

I always send them straight to spoof@paypal.com and let them deal with it. I don't read it, open it or do anything else with it.
