Default Royal Mail UK postal strikes coming up.

"UK sellers - if buyers may be affected, let them know, and overseas buyers buying from the UK, please be aware delays may not be the sellers fault."

    Found the news on ScamBay
Last week the Commercial Workers’ Union issued strike notice to Royal Mail. This means that national strikes are possible from Monday 4 November.

I've already got it as a notice

My son's a postman, and he hates the idea of being on strike, as do a lot of his workmates.
He's a grafter by nature, so this goes against the grain.

They've been offered an 8.5% pay rise over three years, guaranteed. He can see that that is a good deal, but apparently the union can't.
Now that they are being privatised, they are guaranteed the same terms and conditions for three years, but the union want a ten-year guarantee.

He tells me that they still haven't got back all of the business they lost in the last two strikes.

    What a shame.

If inflation rates stay at around the current level for the next three years, that 8.5% will be wiped out by inflation. So it is not a pay increase in real terms after inflation is taken into account, it is only keeping pace with inflation.

8.5% over 3 years is one heck of a lot more than what most people are getting (especially civil servants - away from the ring fenced departments. Many still have another year of pay freeze and than 1% for the next 2 years). And private companies aren't doing all that wonderful either.

8.5% over 3 years is great, i would love it if my income could keep up with inflation.I got a flat $12.00 a month last year, none this year, enough said.

I took a union job when i retired from military, we worked 28 months in 62 months, on strike or laid off rest of time, and they told me i was quiting a good job. Self employment was better for me.
