Thread: Need store to default and show newest items 1st please

Default Need store to default and show newest items 1st please

    Hi Ebid Staff,

If possible, I need my store to show my newest items 1st instead of defaulting to the oldest items 1st. We have heard from many of our past Ebay customers who go to our website on Ebid via our domain name and they always write us and say "well email me when you get something new on"

They are not seeing that they can switch the choice from Time Remaining Low ---> High to Time Remaining High ---> Low. This is very important to us gaining potential new sales. The customers that visit us keep seeing the same old stuff and then leave the page because it always has the same old stuff showing up. I desperately need in reversed automatically or to default to showing new items 1st because with 14,000+ different items on, honestly my store should have taken off by now and we are just treading water.

    Please help, thank you,
    John Hench

Those listings starting with 90 days don't help - you have a completely static shop as your buyers have told you.

Over 11,000 baseball cards in one category without any sub cats to divide them all up either by team or card make. That makes it really tough for buyers to navigate their way around.

As well as that (I have only checked a couple) you seem to have no items showing on Google Shopping. You need to do a store exemption - although I have also noticed that some of your cards have some info in the UPC/Brand which doesn't look right - Baseball card, as far as I am aware is not a Brand, so those would need to removed out of the listings that they appear in.

Baseball card as a keyword in the title's would help enormously as well - those 2 words are the absolute must for any baseball card listing.

If you split all those cards in sub cats - recurring 10 day listings and with the listings starting at different times throughout the whole week then you would have a completely fluid and ever changing shop that grabs buyers attention. Having a google presence would get you a lot of new buyers - but only if they can navigate their way around the shop.

For your shipping you now have Multiple Instant Checkout - which means you could set your shipping to auto calculate at $1.00 and an extra 5c for every additional card. Buyers love this - and the system works perfectly.

If you bulk edit on the listings and switch them all to 10 days - when they finish you can re-list in bulks of (for example) 75 at a time at different times of the day for as long as that takes - at least that would make the shop look fluid and mobile. But that doesn't solve the navigation issues which your buyers (and potential buyers) will have regarding the cats - and you really need those keywords in there.

I agree with deanosaur......if I were browsing, I wouldn't bother doing more than one or two pages. If I were looking for something specific, I'd type in the name.....like Barry Bonds..........and see what came up.

Too many things in one category to make me want to hang around and just look, because if I'm just browsing, it's probably in a more narrow field....

    Good luck..
    Ta-Ta for now!

Agree with the above, the more subcategories in any category the better. I don't know much about baseball cards, but is there any way to subdivide them by player or year or team? This might help buyers who are browsing to locate exactly what they want.

You can also use Facebook, Twitter and other social media sites to promote your items. You might also want to add a signature link to your forum posts so members can click to view your listings.

If your items aren't appearing in Google shopping and you need to request a store exemption, do contact support: support@ebid.net as they should be able to help with this.

As far as viewing auctions goes, I've always been able to use the drop down at the top of the listings to switch my views from earliest to newest listed. Granted it doesn't stay that way, as first listed is the default, but one click of the drop down isn't so difficult, especially if buyers are interested in your items.

    Oh and welcome to eBid.

Good luck and best wishes for many sales to all,
