Changing your Google

Google makes some assumptions about you based on what you do on the web.

I just went into http://www.google.com/ads/preferences to change some of those assumptions.

For example, it thought I was interested in babies and toddlers, and that I wanted information about credit and loans. Not true!

What wrong assumptions does Google have about you?

I'm 65+ .... not yet by a good few years, I'm male, no don't think so, I play on line games, err...no I don't.

Their assumptions are a bit awry!

Apparently I'm male too and seem to have an interest in consumer electronics particularly audio equipment and headphones ?!

I keep avoiding updating to the new google, I think I'll keep it that way.

Allegedly, I like movies?? I haven't been to the cinema in years! I like toys?? Wonder if that was because a vintage toy sewing machine caught my eye on Pinterest because I have one like it (I confess I was wondering how much I could sell it for!) Bedding?? Maybe because I bought some for MIL at Christmas?

Otherwise - age is vaguely right and interests - not too bad. Scary what "Big Brother" learns when watching you! I don't wish to be inundated with adverts of any kind though so I may well delete the lot! Or tell them something silly such as - I am a caving, bungee jumping and hang-gliding enthusiast - just to see what happens... but as "they" might well read this they'll be on to that ruse in a flash...
