Default A general techy email question

I have a new stock accounting program which produces a email invoice in PDF format but it doesn't open properly in Outlook Express. (Its sent as a attachment that must be clicked on to open)

It can also produce one in HTML that opens in Outlook but it looks terrible and mucks my design up.

My question is Does any email program automatically open a PDF message?

As far as I'm aware portable document format was created by adobe so will only open with that or some other reader.I'm sure there are other readers but don't know about email providers that would automatically open them.I think you'd still have to click to open.

I had a feeling that would be the answer. It seems strange to me that the software program is geared to produce it in the PDF format.

Tony--Get Foxit reader. Its much smaller and quicker than Adobe and will do all that Adobe will do and more.

I have only ever heard of HTML opening up in messages. All other forms of messaging ie PDF MW and others are sent as attachments to be opened by the recipient.

I use Foxit all the time and can highly recommend it.

Outlook has built-in viewers for most well-known file formats including PDF, so when I'm sent one I click on the attachment and it shows it to me in the preview pane. I'm not sure if that helps, because I don't really know what you're trying to achieve.

I use Foxit and can open the PDF invoices in the test emails I send myself by clicking on the attachment. However most people would not be happy clicking on attachments in the emails I sent them, especially if they were first time buyers from me, so I was hoping there was some way of making the PDF file open automatically. This doesn't seem possible

Since opening this thread I have been playing around with the software and will most likely stick to sending HTML invoices.

Thanks for your all your replies

They *should* be more upset about something opening automatically, but I know what you mean.
