Totally disagree. It is a real threat. They may not have any intention of following through with it - but the threat is real.

It is the same as to not have to physically attack someone for an assault to take place - the belief that such an attack will take place is an assault in itself.

Or could do the local cops a favour and tell them it has been pointed out that they can find out more about on Snopes as it is a an email hoax been going for many years as has been pointed out in this thread already

Please don't waste precious resources taking this sort of petty nonsense to the Police. Yes, it's a deeply unpleasant thing to receive - I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy (if I had one!) - but it's not a serious personal threat, just some inadequate waving his tiny little willy about . There is enough real crime the Police can barely cope with, without wasting their time with this rubbish.
