    Default IE -v- Firefox

When I have previously checked the stats on my KB the combined hit rates for all versions of IE and Firefox were always roughly level pegging. Now Firefox is romping away - outstripping IE by 30%, and beating IE and all other browsers combined.

If this reflects wider usage then it seems Microsoft is losing its grip.

It looks like it. The stats on my website are

    Firefox 32%
    Chrome 25%
    IE 21%
    Safari 10%
    Other 12%
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

Firefox all the way, I`ve just added a tool infact called Photobucket uploader, it`s very cool. You`re able to right click over a picture, then send to your photobucket account, once uploaded you`re given options and able to click to get the direct url straight away.
    Kind Regards

I use Firefox as my everyday browser, but have several others installed for testing and development.

Stats on various sites i run or mod have been showing FF as the majority for quite some time now. That said, to many people its still easier to just use whatever is packaged with the PC (unless a child or grandchild gets hold of it and changes it over hehe) and so when designing sites you have to make sure you cover all the bases. I still speak to so many people who have had sites 'professionally' made only to find that things dont look right in different browsers.

MS have been looking more seriously into standardising the way IE interprets and interacts with the web, due to the shift. Who knows, one day it might all be standardised.

Personally i'd rather they worked on a teleportation device. Actually no, an MS one might leave most of my body here and just teleport my arms to OZ holding a blue sign that says "error system failure @"&*$"!¬"£"£$£^$^"@}<{: Please reboot" ... gutted
Just realised i needed to mod my old signature. No set categories yet, but i'll work on that now i am back and update as able

I use IE. Had tried fire fox once & found it too invasive. I might try it again, it may have just been my perception.

I use Internet Explorer 8. I have FireFox, Safari and Google Chrome installed for checking my listings made in Internet Explorer. I am running Windows XP SP3 on a P4 3 gHz computer.

I use IE because if my listings work properly in it, then they will work in the other browsers. FireFox (+ Google Chrome + Safari) is too forgiving about HTML errors when you edit listings and if you create your listings in it, you will not see the errors that show up in Internet Explorer. So while you think that FireFox is great because you have less issues, in fact, FireFox hides listing errors in HTML.

I have messaged many sellers on eBay about listing errors and they are almost always using FireFox and never checked in Internet Explorer as to how their listings looked. I even had one person respond that they switched to FireFox and all their listing problems disappeared that they were having in Internet Explorer. The problem was not IE but poor HTML that was corrupted by using one listing and continuously selling similar and editing the copy of a copy. FireFox hides these errors and FireFox users do not know that their listings have issues.

Since there are quite a few users of Internet Explorer, I find it important to make sure my listing look right in it. Then FireFox and other browsers almost always work properly too. I spot check my listings in FireFox occasionally looking for issues. I rarely find any.

    Yes, they do,

Most new pc' sold in retail shops have it already installed or easier to install.

So its not until someone tell them Firefox is better, that they think about changing.
