Rather than purchasing the .com I would think possibly just maybe that a site rebrand using the .com with another name instead of eBid would be the best way possibly to go.

Wow ! - That's radical Raindropsies!
In actual fact its not a silly idea.
1 ebid is a bit too similar to ebay
2 There is not much bidding done these days (anywhere) so the "bid" part is superflous.
And as you say it would be a chance to snap all the most important domain names (they are not dear if they are unused)
There is a precedent for this.
In Australia the top alternative to ebay was Oztion
(Ozstralian for Auctions).
No one knew how to pronounce it. Oz tee on, or Oz shun.
They were taken over by another company and they changed the name to Quicksales.
All the links etc were changed and there has been no noticeable difference in sales or views since the change which was only a few months ago.
Quicksales is not a brilliant name imho, but its better than Oztion.
ImHo any name for a site such as ebid needs to be buyer orientated, not seller orientated.
EG Topbuys rather than Topsales.
And of course Bonanzle changed to Bonanza.
URLS are cheap the name doesn't need to be changed they can just point the .com to the current site. I think it's a good Idea. I have one client that has 15 urls pointed to her site and she fashioned them on the way people ask questions. She gets tons of hits from them. And it would secure a wanna be from grabbing it and causing confusion.
Hooo crap... Depends on how much they want for the url... for the US it would help increase traffic.
Due to the popularity of Apple's product range, just about anything with 'i' in front has already been registered. Flog-it, flog and flogit are also a no-go.
If we suggested a new ident, it would have to be -
Short(ish)
Easy to remember
Have all the required url's available.
Thinking-caps on people. We may be onto a winner
All good things come to those who wait, and wait, and wait.....
I don't think that a public forum would be the best place for name ideas to be named.
If HQ did decide to have a name change and wanted ideas, I am presuming that they would set up a dedicated email address for them to be sent to, otherwise it could just be a waste of time.

I love the way Tias Treasures thinks from page 1 of this threadf someone doesn't know and refuses to learn the difference between ebid.net and ebid.com . . .
Do I really want that person buying from me? So far we've had excellent, intelligent, literate buyers who actually read our descriptions and understand every word. I'd like to keep it that way.
