    Default Plugging and Bumping question

    Hi,

I put a plug your auction thread on yesterday. I would like to add one today to promote something in my craft section.

On the rules it says delete the old thread (so that is yesterday?) or bump. What does bump mean, please.

Can I put the same wording as yesterday on a new thread but add some more for my craft, etc., as I don't want to break any forum rules but don't understand the terminology.

    Thank you.

'Bump' To raise an existing thread to the top of the thread list by posting a new message to it.

    Hi again, Mel

Is that the correct way, please? Otherwise I will delete the 'bump' and try again.

Either bumping or starting a new thread is acceptable. The main difference is that if you bump (as you have just done) your latest post appears at the end of the thread (in default thread display order) but a new thread places your latest post at the top of the thread. Pick whichever method best suits your needs - but only do one of either in any 24 hour period (or risk the wrath of admin).

I would normally say that if you want to present new information then use the new thread method. If you just wish to raise the profile of an existing plug then bump the thread.

You can create 1 thread in the Plug your Auctions forum.

You can bump the 1 thread once, every 24hrs, by replying to yourself and adding more information.

You must delete the 1st thread if you intend to create a 2nd thread (after 24hrs or longer have lapsed since 1st thread)

EEk, I have made a few mistakes then , glad people correct you though when you do make an error! I apologise if I have broken the rules whilst trying to get to grips with things.

I had never heard of bumping so another thing learnt today!!
