its a bit like Australia/New Zealand... it use to be in the Antipodes... then it became Austrasia... now days it Oceania

Mexico is one of those odd places...

http://www.lonelyplanet.com/maps/central-america/ clearly shows Mexico as Central America.... but....

http://www.worldatlas.com/webimage/countrys/na.htm clearly shows Mexico as North America

so it appears both are right.

The National Geographic Society always includes Mexico when it prints a map of North America. It would be difficult not to do so, since it takes up a huge chunk at the bottom of the continent.
