Default Something we talked about last night

Me and the kids that is.

Jobs~ with so many people looking for work, is it fair to have a job, if you don't need the money?

We know several people, who work, just because they get bored at home.

But those jobs could be done by people who really are in need.

    So is it fair?

    What do you think?

good morning Excess, you ask , is it fair , yes , it is , how many people do not want to work , will never work..if a person is is able and wants to work then why not ? it might well be a job that a lot of others would not do...
but you could also ask....is it fair for some people to stop working , and have a few kids so they can claim for this , that and the next thing , and be better off not working ... but back to your question , YES , if they want to work , let them.....papa.

I didn't post this to cause any problems.

Just curious as to what people thought.

It if turns into a thread with people bashing each other, then I'll close it.

What we discussed, was whether is was fair to those who are seeking work , and can't find any.

Why a paid job? Why not work for charity?

If you're working, just because you're bored at home, you're stopping someone else from earning a living.

At least that is how I saw it~ the daughter saw it differently. The son the same as me.

    Your right,
I was one of the best at my work.

I kept a lot of people under me in work,
I trained a lot of people to my very high standards and morals.

I was pensioned off due to ill health.

    I'll take your advice,
I'll stay at home and become a vegetable.

I am not saying people should not work free for charity but isn't that also doing someone out of a job that they could be paid for. How do you know whether the people who are working because they are bored at home are keeping their wages or giving them to charity.

I also wonder how you determine whether a person needs the money or not. IMO my son earns more money than he really needs (why does anyone need more than one house) so should he just start working part-time. I can imagine his response if I suggested that to him. LOL If he cut down his wage the local bookmaker would have to lay off some staff
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

Being out and about I somtimes see him or her doing a job for the city and I will say "I can do that" and my spouse will say no you can't because you don't know anybody! Which of course I don't because it always helps to have contacts.

Not meaning to be flip but fairness is what you get in a court of law ................................ if you win!

Thank you for a very interesting question, XCESS.

If we have to consider that jobs should be given first to those who really need them, that totally disregards their competency. I don't want to have to deal with doctors, store clerks, lawn care workers, eBid sellers or food processors who have their jobs because they were in bad financial shape before acquiring the jobs. In that situation, the jobs could be called positions. I think of jobs as work done for pay.

In this world, some people are better at making their way through life than others, and it seems those who are in good jobs are often good at other skills too, including money management.

I think anyone who wants to work is entitled to do so regardless of the job they choose and regardless of how many 'need' the job...

Many of us have have been in the situation where we 'need' the money and some have been lucky to get a job they love..I don't see why they should make way for others who feel they need it more - who can say what we are entitled to and not

As long as you are competeant in the job it shouldn't matter what your personal circumstances are.

Who would be the person to say who is entitled to a job and not - bit too much like communism to me..

Peoples' reasons for working and this need to work does boil down to more than money! the person who might be in a financial position to not work is lucky, however you cannot measure ones sanity and worth in £££££££, we all have needs of one type or another.
if anyone wishes to work and is lucky enough to find a position then good on them!
with regards people volunteering and helping out- it could be deemed if there werent the volunteers jobs would be created, its all a vicious circle.
