My latest hobby: Counting the number of closed shops/stores & businesses! If we are lucky, it's just the end of the "High Street" and the real birth of E-commerce.........................................B UT if we are UNlucky, it could just be the end of the current Global financial/power system....

These were liberal values that created the middle class and were very supportive of the Democratic Party. The wealthy were taxed at 90%, anyone above $3 million a year. Our economy grew at a 4% GDP and there were large unions to support workers rights. And then the wealthy rebelled, people like the Coors family. They created the Heritage Foundation and others began to spring up like the Cato institute promoting their right wing ideology of corporatism for in the guise of trickle down economics and supply side economics. They blamed unions on the ills of our economy but didn't really tell you the real problem was that they didn't get wealthy enough fast enough was the problem. But the funny thing is that the guy who was telling us it was those socialists’ liberals and their unions that was the problem, was borrowing money faster than any president in our history, and left with the biggest debt we ever had. And they still kept on doing it right up to last President. They succeeded in killing the unions with a massive propaganda using the corporate air waves and now the transnational corporations have control of your government and Wall Street is their boss. The government has become an arm of the corporate state and only needs you to fight its wars and consume. Liberty as our founding fathers envisioned it has been taken over in exchange for the freedom to consume. And what scares me is that people just seem to think that it's all about if they were responsible with their money and look down on those who can't. They miss the fact that the amount of those who can't is growing and slowly taking over the country. It is designed so that you must use credit in order to survive the ever growing increases as jobs disappear and pay decreases. That was all fine when they had a piece of the market and were shareholders reaping the rewards of cost cutting their friends and families...So stealing from them and paying them dirt so they have no choice but get assistance is fair play...kind of the same slave owner thinking. Many pretend that they can afford a higher social standing by having the latest gadget or over priced handbag. Sure some have had some success and can pay bills now, but who would want to retire with the amount aft ageless and sick elderly that this country will have with nothing to provide for them after taking everything that they had? I keep seeing the money disappear…

    Amen……..

I agree. If we don't all prosper, no one prospers.

Hope this turns around soon for everyone. Too many good people out of work.

As Obama is now saying - he wants to create jobs with just three words "Made in America"
He is planning on giving tax breaks to companies that stay in the USA and not those that export jobs.

We in the west need to take that on board.
But we will need to be prepared to pay more for some stuff.

It is not all my efforts because I work well with my wife of 38 years! I know that all situations are different but this small home based business is working for us! We have a lot of closed factories in this area including the ones which employed me! Factories that manufactured sophisticated papermaking equipment and assembly line equipment that had a 150 year community history. It is a sad tale but it is a common picture across the US of A and I am assuming the world! I really believe that it is going to get a lot worst before it’s going to get better!
