I've never had them from Microsoft, but have had them from my ISP telling me that I had a virus on my computer. Likewise told them where to go.

I'm totally fed up with ALL "cold-callers" at the moment, so would probaby tell them to "go forth and multiply" ! (That, of course, is the polite version!)

They get on my nerves, When they ask for me by name I always say
I'll get her, and put the phone on the table, I once waited about 20 mins before picking it up, and I could not believe it, They were still there.
Usually I leave it 10 mins, but the beggers always ring back later and try again, I do the same thing.

I have had 2 calls in the last 2 weeks from a very strong accented hard to understand Indian man who was making out that my computer was running slow and needed fixing. I was immediately suspicious of the caller. I put the phone down the first time, but the second time i tried to understand more of what he was trying to tell me (very difficult). I told him that my very good friend was in IT and ensures my comp is running fine. This didn't deter this guy from going on and on & again I ended up putting the phone down on him.
Despite me having registered with TPS, I get tons of sales calls. It's infuriating.

I've been registered with the TPS for ages and STILL get pestered with calls! I've emailed, phoned and all sorts and still get NADA! They even told me to change my phone number - as if (it's a great number and dead easy to remember!). I've got to the stage now that I'm very rude to the callers. It wouldn't be so bad if when you said "I'm not interested" they took you at your word. But no. They've got to know the ins and outs. Now I just ask them what part of the words NO or NOT INTERESTED they don't understand - then hang up. Some of these days I'm really gonna lose it and let go with a mouthful and the only wonder is that I haven't done so already cos I'm quite a swearer. OK - truth - I swear like a trooper!

a question not answered in my original posting was .... who do they ask for , when they phone us they ask to speak to a mr...... its always the same name.
i am wondering if this is the same name for every phone call they make or if the have my number down as for the original resident, although i find that hard to believe as i have lived here for almost 20 years and changed phone companies twice. i did, after a few threats, get from one cold caller where they got my number from. he said it was on a list sold to his company by my phone company. i dont know how true this is especially as they have the wrong name. the upside of this is that if they give the wrong name i know i can give any abuse i like. i have been told that they will report me for using abusive langauge.....my answer is.......you phoned me, if you dont want abuse, dont phone again
