Was girl in Bronx NY in 1900 who did not eat after a streetcar accident. Visited by the press etc. Very famous. Then she got really really plump, and everyone knew it was a scam (she sold souvenirs to visitors). So she became the famous invalid who did not get out of bed for 50 years. Even have a book about her.
