It may have also had to do with postage. High to ship from UK to US, and high for US to ship to UK. Not sure. Some listed (both sides) with free postage.

The last few YDCs I have offered free worldwide postage - didn't work unfortunately in bringing in anyone new in UK, Europe or USA...

I've often bid on US YDC items just to try to give them some support. If I win something that's going to be awkward to post overseas, I get the seller to send it to another US ebidder - but one can't do that sort of thing too often with limited funds, of course. I don't like to say "put it back in next month" because I feel that doesn't allow new things to be put into the pot and keep things fresh. The same old stuff recirculating each month isn't good for the look of the auctions, however kindly and generously meant by the winners. At least, that's how I feel about it.

I think it was for a combination of reasons. One was a fun challenge between the US and UK YDCer's, another was because it was thought that it would be unlikely that there would be a US winner simply because of the difference in the number of US and UK users and the postage costs so US members wouldn't get to nominate a featured charity.

It was never a "Breakaway" it was a "Challenge". As to the difference in numbers, who knew at the time that there would be so few "Yanks" participating. I have not been around as much as I once was and only found out today that this had happened. Needless to say at this moment I am appalled (Giving the difference in numbers) that such a "VOTE" could even take place.

Mad? You bet your sweet arse I'm mad

This was voted on before YDC76 and the change has already been implemented.

    Gramma1111,

I can only say I'm baffled by how aggressive your post has come across.

YDC was global to start with & people felt a divide had occurred (as mentioned in post 1) when it became USA V UK

YDC is not IMO to do with what country you live in, nor anything to do with just 1 charity each month, it's about raising money for good causes

I personally have no plans at current to reversing the decision that has been voted upon, I think it's important to keep in mind that not only members from UK & USA take part on a regular basis, there are some from France, Canada & Australia to my knowledge.

I will never please every one, nor will I ever have time to private message every YDC participant.

    Just to add,

YDC amounts of top 5 were

£29.52 sold by me (won by an American)
£27.02 sold by a Brit (Won by a Brit)
£25.07 Sold by a Brit (Won by a Brit)
$33.10 sold by an American (won by a Brit)
£17.11 (For a USA charity) sold by a Brit & (Won by a Brit)
