Yes we all know it is sad that the family have been broken up and we all wish that one day Maddie is returned, but heck how many other kiddies go missing, how much press do they get? the whole thing really racks me off.
    Okay I take the bait

I had mt first child at 17 and guess what I knew even at that age that you do not go out and leave 2 babies and 1 toddler on their own.

You would'nt do it. That's understood. What they did was ill advised, but theres been worse without the consequences. All the 'Home Alone' stories where mum goes to the pub or even on holiday.
These people took their kids on holiday, they went for a meal and left the kids alone, they checked on them. They were not abandoned to fate. But it was fate that overtook them all.
It's a sad, sad oh so sad story. The Macanns are feeling every tug of every heartstring, every pang of guilt.

When summut like this (on a vastly smaller scale) happens in my life.
I blow my top - calm dowm - consider - try to resolve the situation.
If it's my fault I'll accept that - But I have to move on - you could'nt blame me anymore than I would blame myself!

Ill advised? They made a choice to leave 3 babies alone.

Yes and the kids get taken away and the mother usually ends up being charged.

It's a sad, sad oh so sad story.
    I agree.

The Macanns are feeling every tug of every heartstring, every pang of guilt.
    Sorry but so they should.

We all make mistakes and have to live with the consequences. They didn't even make a mistake they made a choice to leave the babies, no matter how you look at it and even if nothing had happened it was still wrong.

The chances of someone taking a child was slim and probably never crossed their minds, but the chances of a child waking up and having an accident of some sort was high and they were prepared to accept that so they could have a night out.

I know one thing I would never have left 3 kids under 5 home alone, regardless of claims they had a sitter, (who did the rounds)

When people feel the need to arm themselves in their own home - Then their perception must be that they are not safe anywhere.

I don't have baseball bat's or machette's especially to hand around my home - having said that however I am well aware where my biggest, meanest butchers knife is to be found, same goes for my ball pein hammer etc etc.

I would'nt want to 'bring em on ' as you put it'. That would be foolhardy and quite possibly a fatal mistake.

I would'nt relish dealing with such a situation either. Possibly engaged in mortal combat where if you put a foot wrong you'll get hurt or worse by the intruder. Put a foot wrong as to what's lawfull and you could still end up in deep mire with the police - and if you actually killed someone I promise you it would be emotionally devastating.

There is absolutely no room for bravado in any such situation.

Och - I've shuttit long enough! The big problem here is that those two CHOSE to leave three weans under 4 in an unlocked apartment on their tod - and not just to nip down to the hotel restaurant - and they've never held up their hands and said "we were wrong". Another thing. One of the grannies let slip that they'd apparently done this often when they were in Greece without any problems. Paedos dream couple.

There's plenty more to be said. But as someone has already mentioned, the thread'll probably get pulled.

I agree totally that they should put their hands up.

    (I wasn't aware that they had'nt.)

Like I said though they will have to live with it for the rest of their lives.

BTW. Why should the thread be pulled? It may be heated but everone is behaving as far as I can see?

Yeah - on here everyone is behaving. But when the wee girl went missing at first, the very name McCann was causing such an uproar between the "pros" and "antis" some forums (especially newspaper forums) wouldn't allow it. Others only allowed postings if they were deemed "pro McCann". So much for freedom of speech!

Nowt to do with feeling unsafe, when we used to live in Harrow Weald council dumped us on an estate full of druggies, hence the need for such items. Habits die hard. Why do you think we moved

I know hun, but they don't always look like that.

She's not the only one who has gone missing. What about the poor wee boy in Greece? The one who was taken from the front garden.

    Never found him either~
