Since a large percentage of what appears on the mainstream news is fabrication anyway, I doubt it means a whole heck of a lot if they lead with Woods or Afghanistan.

Do you know what makes my blood boil with our "news"?

When a soldier is killed, but only gets a mention after the football results.

How does that make his family feel?

Just what are "The News" priorities these days?

    Music.
Plato says when the music of a society changes, the whole society will
    change.
Aristotle, a contemporary of Plato's, says when music changes there should be laws to govern the nature and the character of that music.
Lenin says that the best and the quickest way to undermine any society is through its music!

The biggest selling daily "news"paper in Britain is 'The Sun'. The biggest selling weekly "news"paper in Britain is 'The News of the World'.

Both trashy tabloids, both sell in millions and both are controlled by the most powerful (and unelected) man in the world - Rupert Murdoch. Check out this guy's media empire to see just how far his influence potentially stretches and continues to grow:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/News_Corporation#Holdings

(Murdoch almost single-handedly won the Conservatives the General Election in 1992 for example)

Murdoch worked out truths that are now self-evident and he has built an empire out of it. Basically sex, scandal and sport sells (and preferably all 3 in 1) - 'proper' news doesn't stand a chance!

The only answer is for enough people to stop buying the rags but that isn't likely to happen.

Until then it'll be a case of:

    • "Terry shagged my Nan..." on page 1
    • tits on page 3
    • "I saw Terry in my Naan bread..." on page 5
    • Sun Bingo etc...

It's a tried and trusted formula

All the above is too true, Matt

I stopped buying daily and weekly national papers several years ago.

The only paper I buy now is the local paper so I can get a feel of what is going on outside my front door.

If I want to read anything in a newspaper without buying...I go on-line and read the news I choose for free
