Thread: Need Silver Experts- Help identifying maker's mark

  1. #1

Default Need Silver Experts- Help identifying maker's mark

    Kent Silversmiths.

I was trying to determine which manufacturer, when and where a piece of silver I happen to have was made..

So far I have searched every place I can find but I have found NO match for the maker's mark on this piece. I do not find any sort of European hallmarks, (that I can see) so I suspect this is U.S. made.

Image attached- its the best photo Ive been able to get of the mark - cannot seem to find this anywhere

Any help or info on this would be cool

Right- as I said in O.P. (not that clearly, though.. lol) - Ive looked up Kent Silversmiths in USA but that is NOT Their mark, as far as I can tell (Their mark is quite different) There is also a Kent Silversmiths in U.K. (Where else? In Kent..LOL )

So.. Ive found one manufacturer named Kent Silversmiths in USA, however, I can find no evidence that this is their mark.. Since the marks attributed to that company are completely different.... so I'm left assuming there may have been *ANOTHER* Kent Silversmiths company somewhere in USA... I'd just like to get some definitive provenance and maybe identify when the piece I have was made, and whether it may have any value (I believe it is silverplate, so not worth that much) ..

It is mainly to satisfy my own curiosity about it , than anything else.

They have been in business since the '30s and have used several different marks

Lacking hallmarks is your clue that it is US and not British

Ah ok. perfect.. that helps - so it is the company in Massachusetts for sure then.. Wonder if there is any way to tell how old it is.. probably not and probably not worth much either.. Ah well. thanks

I don't know the ages of their marks but I'd say the style of that one is pretty 70ish

But then the MASS would seem more 50s
