Another thing to watch out for is when sending money using the gift option.

If I pay through Pay-pal using a credit card....the recipient is charged

Me too. There's no bank account linked to it and the debit card I had on it for payments has expired. PayPal is strictly a closed facility for me now, no money goes to or from my card or bank.

I've no idea why it shows on mine.

It shows exactly like that on mine, if I click on the "withdraw" tab.
However, if I wait for the dropdown menu and click on "Transfer to bank account" (or whatever the exact wording is) it defaults to the normal free withdrawal.

This post made me look at fees etc in a bit more detail over there. Am I overlooking something or has the minimum FREE withdrawal limit been lowered from £50 to just £6?

I did click transfer to bank as I normally do. I didn't check the minimum free withdrawal level, I'm not that vigilant.

I know it less than £50 as i withdrew £37 last time (I withdraw 3-4 times a week as I don't like too much money in paypal) and I was not charged any fee

I think its been like this for a while, I haven't paid any withdrawal fees for amounts less than £50 for a number of times now - am off to check what my page looks like!

NB: Yes, I've got the new one too - although I agree there doesn't seem to be any obvious way for the £5 charge option to be the default one - except if you click on it out of habit without reading closely - a bit crafty easily done if you are in a hurry, not concentrating etc. etc. - I expect they've gained a few £'s this week in error from users

Very glad this was pointed out - I may well have made the same mistake myself and would not have been happy
