Thread: Petowners worse nightmare

  1. #1

    Default Petowners worse nightmare

Just called a close friend of mine in Notthingham.
She answered the phone in tears.
She had driven home from work on Saturday evening.
She has a 17 year old cat which runs out to greet her every day.
On saturday the cat was sitting there at the driveway to greet her.
All of a sudden she felt a bump under the rear wheels.
The cat had taken a sudden jump forward and landed straight in the path of the rear wheels.
Died by the time she had carried it indoors.
I can honestly say that I could not put myself in her shoes - it is something she will never forget - totally devastated.

I knew Ceefer (the cats name.......Ceefer Cat) - was a wonderful wee beastie and so full of life for her age.

    How awful for her.
And there was nothing she could of done to prevent it happening.

Happened to me, backing up the drive.
    It really is heart wrenching.

    My thoughts are with her.

the poor woman, i can imagine she must feel terrible about it. She shouldn't torture herself over it though as it was an accident & nothing she could have done to stop it happening. My heart goes out to her though because i know if it were me, i'd be inconsolable, just the same. xx

Many years ago one of my ex's (yes, there's been a few) was out running fence, knew my son's (at the time 10) little dog was down there following him around and playing with the cattle, anyway he forgot about the dog, backed up the truck and ran over him...my son was beyond devastated...I'll never forget that.

    How awful for her

My cousin's husband in the States had it happen to him twice with two of their dogs One was a Pyraennean Mountain Dog and the other a yard-dog (cross between Labrador and German Shepherd) so neither of them small dogs but they happen to be lying down behind the 4x4 and he didn't check before he got in and just ran them over - both were fairly old and both had hip problems so they had to assume they hadn't been able to get up and move off quickly enough when he started the engine. You would have thought he would have checked every time after the first though wouldn't you?

I feel for your friend - we lost our old cat of 20 years this Spring and that was just old age and that was bad enough - they say time is a healer and hopefully all her lovely memories of her will come to the fore and help her to get over this - I hope so

As those above have said - nothing would have prevented it - cats do what cats do!

Aw, how sad :-( That must be terrible for her; if it happened to me I would be inconsolable. Poor little cat too, I suppose at least it wasn't suffering for long.
