My brother-in-law came back from a vacation in the British Isles, and described it. "Beautiful scenery, interesting towns, very old buildings, and a lot of wonderful people with funny accents driving on the wrong side of the road."

I pointed out that he has a Minnesota accent (think of the movie Fargo) and ducked.

Have you ever wondered what the USA would be like if us Brits hadn't decided to leave you to it in 1783?

I mean .... for instance.... Now you all drive on the WRONG side of the road!!!


I would love to hear anyone elses ideas on this.particularly from our North American cousins.... In a purely light-hearted way of course.....

Just technical point, I don't think "decided to leave" had much to do with it. We feisty colonials gave 'em a big push (then they decided to leave)!

Doubt there would be a big difference. We would have more interesting accents over here. Maybe sound like Australians?
