We used to have these wooden wheels, poles and squares, that you could build with.
Bit like lego but wood.
I spent hours building stuff with my brother.
Can't remember what they were called.

Yes, plain old sanded pieces of wood in various sizes/shapes will keep little ones busy for DAYS! I once gave my son a set of colored wood blocks for Christmas. He also got a bicycle. Yep, he played with those blocks for several days before finally jumping on the tricycle!!LOL
Also, for girls especially, I'd like to see a set of good 'ol JACKS come back!! When I was around 8 years old I got a set of Jacks and a golf ball for my birthday. My sisters and friends at school played Jacks every chance we got...it was the "in" thing back in the day!!
I remember jacks. Used to love them to.
My kids had a slinky that they played with for hours

My most played with toy was my Meccano - but you can still get that; followed by my Scalextric. I can't really think of anything that was available when I was a kid that you can't get in some form now. Of course everything is plastic now whereas it was tinplate back when I was a nipper. Bakalite was about the only plastic in them days.
Too many toys nowadays do not allow children to use their imagination; you just set them going and that is it. Toys that foster imagination make for the best toys.
I buy vintage toys. My grandchildren love them and playdough with Nannas cookie cutters are the bomb!
I have new listings! Check them out!
Everything I say can be fully substantiated by my own opinion.Fed up with paying to sell?
