    Default Spelling?

I've just noticed on the home page, where it shows what people have been putting in searches for, 5 different spellings of the word television! Is this an indication of how poorly schools are teaching children?

There is a certain irony in this thread starting at the same time as one is running with people boasting about how they bunked off school. Perhaps a comparison with the spelling between those saying "yes, I bunked off" and those saying "no, I went to school" would prove interesting?

maybe because schools put more emphasis on the child trying the word themselves these days (sounding it out) but i would suspect that it is not the current way of teaching that is the issue-
it may also be people deliberately searching items with incorrect spelling to try for bargains- i know i've had quite a few that way

There is a theory that on another auction site you can get good bargains by looking for mis-spellings, that maybe the case this time. But more likely to be bad spelling, personally I tend to run things through the spell checker if I am unsure of something, or just use an alternative word.
