Thread: My first neg feedback :(

I recently learned that we have to use Registered Mail (very expensive) or Priority Mail (very expensive) to get proof of shipment for international packages. First-class international mail can't be insured and we can't buy a separate proof of delivery.

I'm currently going through our more expensive items, changing the delivery method to Priority Mail. We're still taking our chances on lower-cost items, because so far we've only had one non-delivered item.

Don't let's forget the user is new the site, could be rather nervous about how reliable this place is, might be new to online buying at all... blah blah. Maybe they've just been a bit premature and they'll realise that when the item arrives. If it really is lost, a calm explanation and refund can do wonders for customer confidence - no need to lose a customer to the site if it's just newbie jitters.

Sorry RM doesn't have tracking/delivery confirmation at a reasonable price. I ship all items Priority Mail, part of the reason is the free clean boxes and the other part is the free tracking/delivery confirmation, IMHO it's definitely worth it.

    Dear (buyers name)

Thank you for your purchase of (enter item purchased here) on 30th December 2010, I can confirm this item was posted out to you on 31st December 2010, please bear in mind that 31st December was a bank holiday which also included dates 1st, 2nd and 3rd January 2011, Please bear in mind that during December the UK had some adverse weather conditions, which affected deliveries in and out of the UK, therefore your purchase may have been delayed due to the back log of post that the UK Royal Mail are having to deal with. I would be grateful if you could consider this and maybe alter the feedback once you have received your item.

The delays caused by the Adverse Weather conditions are beyond my control and I can not guarantee that the postal system will deliver your item first before they clear the backlog, If however you have not received your item by the end of January, please feel free to contact me and I will offer a full refund.

I also notice that you promptly left me negative feedback on 15th January, The UK Post would have been picked up on the 4th January and due to the backlog of post would probably not have even left the UK until probably 10th January, taking into consideration the delivery times and going through customs the items probably would not even have arrived in the USA until Friday 14th January.

    Yours sincerely

Ditto Craig's letter, thoughtful, articulate and well reasoned.

    Just to advise you.

As you may know my husband is a postie.
Yesterday (Sunday) he worked overtime from 8.00am til 2.00pm sorting and delivering parcels.
There is still a huge backlog as no extra staff were taken on over the Christmas period and that, combined with the bad weather , has seen a mountain of mail waiting to be delivered in many areas.

Don't blame the postmen. Blame the upper management!!

I know it's not the mail carrier's fault normally - it's the system. I still am waiting on mail from Long long ago..........................but it will be worth more when it arrives, as it will have become antique!!! lol
