Thread: World Cup 2010 thread

  1. #1

    Default World Cup 2010 thread

Like it or hate it - it is going to be very difficult totally avoid it over the course of the next 4 weeks - especially if England get further in the competition.

I would imagine there will be posts about it, some of the matches, players, incidents etc.

Just wondering, instead of cluttering up the forum with various threads about it, out of consideration for those with no interest, we can keep all World Cup posts in one thread?

This way at least those who have no interest in it all, will have no reason to read this thread, and the KT wont get it all over the place.

Just a thought - if not a good idea, I will be quite happy to delete this one.

The pre-tournament bets I have placed so far...........
Blue lines are the ones I have backed to happen.
Pink lines are the ones I have backed to NOT happen.

I think it's a great idea but maybe split it off into 2 threads?

1/ World Cup footy only thread

2/ World Cup betting/anything else thread

I know the two go hand in hand anyway but just a thought...(only 'cos I want to nick your tips before anyone else )

    Lol at the tips bit!

I do get emails on value bets tho - still got 3 or 4 to place before it all starts.

Couple of stats for those that are thinking of placing some bets.

8 out of Englands last 10 games have paid out on over 2.5 goals.
9 out of USAs last 10 games have paid out on over 2.5 goals.

England v USA - over 2.5 goals.......just over even money.

    Games involving South American teams.
82% of the games in the qualifing group paid out on over 35 booking points (3.5 cards) (based on 2 points per yellow card, 5 points per red card).
    88.8% (16/18) of Argentina's games went Over 35 Booking
    Points/ 3.5 Cards
    88.8% (16/18) of Chile's games went Over 35 Booking Points/
    3.5 Cards
    88.8% (16/18) of Uruguay's games went Over 35 Booking Points/
    3.5 Cards
    77.7% (14/18) of Brazil's games went Over 35 Booking Points/
    3.5 Cards
    66.6% (12/18) of Paraguay's games went Over 35 Booking Points/

I'll be dabbling more in the 'Specials' markets myself this tournament as I know that's where the value is. I won't be getting carried away though...I've got my World Cup bet budget lined up and once it's gone, it's gone - win, lose or draw.

Will be sticking a few £ on Spain and another few £ E/W on an outsider but not decided who yet.

Can't wait for the tournament to start in general. Must have been about 3 days since I last saw a game of footy!

Maybe if the "chat about anything > sporting goods" forum was renamed to sports it would be a good home for all sports chat and could house as many footy threads as wanted without upsetting anybody?

In my experience people who like one sport tend to like others, and tolerate most.
