Back "in the day" when we raised pigs, when it came time to slaughter one we just called up the butcher up in Redmond. They'd come down, do the deed, haul it off, and in 2 weeks my freezer was half-full of some of the best pork I've ever had.

Getting a pig movement license....PULEEEEEEZE!!!!

unfortunately you had to have a movement licence with number of pigs etc on for the market, no licence no sale at the market, same as if you took them to an abatoir to be slaughtered no licence no slaughter, its always better if your a small home producer if you know a man that can, but if your a large concern you have to do things by the books, luckily dont do pigs any more on a commercial large scale, 1 for the freezer will do best pork going at least you know what its been fed and not pumped full of god knows what and all fat and water
