Default POLL: Should eBid change the verification process

I'm not much for Polls although this subject matter has come up time and time again and appears to be leaving some negative impact on members so I'll ask the question.

Should eBid's verification process take place for all members before they are allowed to join?

Should eBid's verification process take place only for members selling high value items and take place before they become a member?

Should eBid's verification process remain as is?

Should eBid's verification process include all sellers?

Should eBid's verification process be changed to something different then is currently in place and will be discussed within this thread?

How would eBid know that a member wanted to sell high value items before they became a member & listed such items?

Well they could ask them what they intend to sell or if the verification process is for items $500 and over they would not be allowed to list items over $500 until they became verified. To be able to list high value items then become struke through is what has become a negative with folks.

Hard to believe, but I agree with the majority (thus far) on this one; verification of all sellers would eliminate the need to ask for specifics regarding listings, (and we all know how variable pricing for the same or similar items can be).

Best wishes for many sales to all,

I cannot see that ever happening.

It would cost ebid too much as the number of people joining and paying £49 would drop.
My posts only state my own opinions, unless I've stolen them from someone else

It probably won't happen anytime soon, but it might just help with the dump and run sellers of high ticket items.

Best wishes for many sales to all,

Not sure I'm clear on this statement. Shouldn't the idea be "once we have a member we know we can trust then take the membership fee." Not "let's grab the fee then see what happens."

Just my opinion but I truly don't feel (or beleive) eBid is out to get the sign up fee. I beleive they are here to build a site and keep the costs low.

To even imply folks may not sign up and take advantage of the fees involved to become a Lifetime member because eBid asks to prove you are who you say you are tells me one thing...they obviously don't belong here nor have any positive intentions.

I need some serious help with punctuation. Hopefully you understand how I feel about this. I see no problem with a verification process but the timing here seems to be off. There are too many forum posts which link right back to the verification process.

This was more of a curiosity Poll. So many Threads and so many Polls. We read them and I know I learn. Sit back and think of how many times we have posted, read the Thread then started rethinking our post.

Verify'em all. Who knows? I might want to sell some big ticket items someday and I sure don't want to be sittin' there with a strike thru while eBid does its thing. Better to get it over to start with.

Agree with Poppa - verify everybody, then nobody can say they've been discriminated against either (bound to happen).

ebid needs to get more sellers listing, if I had been asked to send in very private documents before I could even list some used dvds etc., I would not have joined ebid. Even a well known payment company does not ask for these ID docs till you have spent/received 100s of £s.

It looks to me that the system only needs to be changed, so that instead of triggering the verification when the item is SOLD, it should be triggered when a seller tries to LIST the item....

that way no buyers are left in a panic because the seller they just bought from has the ID struckthrough, that sort of panic can put new buyers off a site very quickly :-(
I like this option. If adopted it should be made absolutely plain to sellers that verification is required at a certain level of selling. It should also be made plain to potential buyers (with a logo or something ) That a sellers listing is being made subject to verification and that they should not bid or buy yet.
