I've used FF for years now and have always been able to open in a new tab easily.
Hold over a link and right click. Lots of options when you right click!

With version 3.5, there is no need to right click.

Yes. I was simply mentioning that it's always been fairly easy to open in a new tab

I've long been a vocal advocate of Firefox, but I find Google Chrome so much easier to use.

    Installed it last week.

It's faster than before, BUT - taking a lot longer to connect - can be up to 10 mins!

(My PC is on XP and is quite small and old though!)

I think a lot of the time people have issues with their browser it's because of the junk that accumulates. Also, I have family members who don't use any kind of security software!! (Something they've stopped mentioning around me since I go nuts when they do.)
The best thing you can do for a smooth running browser is have a very good anti virus, firewall and a few other programs (many free) that safeguard your computer. To make it easier, just get yourself a suite that does most of these things. They run anywhere from $70 - $90 a year, but for anyone not very versed in keep their computer safe, they're more than worth it.
Any of these things missing from your computer security and no browser is going to work well.

That has surprised me a lot.

I have used FF for a long time now, and after upgrading yesterday to 3.5, I am finding it is connecting a heck of a lot faster !
    Am also on XP

Today Firefox froze my PC and i had to do a forced restart so i have now installed Google Chrome and find it a lot faster with no problems so far even my PC seems to be running better now, before when i was using Firefox and wanted to do anything else like go to a folder on my PC it would be slow sometimes showing the egg timer now i have changed i don't have this problem any more, I have been trying to sort my PC out for months now and its looking like Firefox was the problem all along if only i had noticed this before it would have saved me a lot of time and effort trying to figure out what was wrong with my PC.
